Conference EVA Berlin 2010

More than one week has already passed since we held a talk about VSEM at the EVA BERLIN 2010 Conference. Therefore it’s time to leave a concluding remark :-)

The event was well organised and we had the chance to hear about a variety of different approaches to utilising digital technologies within the realms of cultural heritage related institutions, in that particular case with the focus on what’s currently going on in german speaking countries.

Besides that we were positively impressed of the reactions to our presentation which were focusing on the project in general as well as on the different aspects of our our personal ( PhD – related ) work.

And, of course, we had the great opportunity to taste a bit of Berlin’s thriving night-life as well ;-)

Brushed up version of ThIATRO

This week I brushed up the current version of ThIATRO a little bit. I used the SketchUp plugin “Light-Up” to calculate the shadow map for the scenery. The whole thing looks much better now. In addition, I integrated the required scripts for the multiplayer functionality and tested the game using the Smartfox Server. Concerning the plot of the game, we got away from the idea to steal paintings. Instead the player will have to find artworks for curating his own personal museum. Details about the gameplay will follow within the next weeks. By now, I invite you to have a look at the prototype here… feedback is welcome!
